This is the Eurasian Black (Cinereous) Vulture
SSP© website. The Eurasian Vulture Plan is part
of the American Zoo and Aquarium Association
(AZA). Zoos’ accredited by the AZA are involved
in the long term management of the Eurasian
Vulture and conservation programs. Species
Survival Plan goals is to educate the public
about these great birds of prey.
Threatened Species
Eurasian Black vultures are severely threatened.
Their habitat destruction is at a high rate. They are
also overly hunted and poisoned and there is a
decline of food sources in their habitat range.
This web site will be the main source of information about the
Eurasian Vulture SSP, educational materials, links, updates,
research projects, and other information. Check us out often and
come learn about these magnificent birds of prey.
The SSP participants work toward genetic diversity of the Eurasian
Vulture in Zoos in order to maintain healthy birds for generations
of Zoo visitors.
